Kate is an active volunteer in the Athabasca community. Her affiliations include the Athabasca Cares Community Housing Society, AIRSS Refugee Sponsorship Society, LTIS Reading Club, Athabasca Jackrabbits Ski Program, Rapids Swim Club, Athabasca Flips Gymnastics Club, and Words Work Literacy Society.

Kate loves backpacking and travelling. Her favourite hikes are in Jasper and around Athabasca's Muskeg Creek Trails with her husband and two sons.
